Warfare
Within the very hearts of man,
Two spirits do reside;
The one is good, the other bad;
They're living side by side.
These two are constantly at war;
Both will strive to win;
The Good is ruled by Jesus Christ,
The Bad is ruled by Sin.
Satan rears his ugly head
And fills the heart with pride;
The humble spirit of the Lord
Then tenderly doth chide:
"My Child, forsake the arrogance,
And self-will lay aside.
My way will lead you to the truth.
Let me be your guide."
Then Satan offered worldly wealth;
"I'll give you all you see!"
But Jesus whispered lovingly,
"My child, I'll give you peace."
The Devil laughed with gleeful jest,
And said, "I'll bring you fame!
Don't tale life seriously,
'Cause life is just a game!"
Then Jesus looked into the heart;
His kind eyes filled with pain.
He said, "I'll offer you a cross,
But heaven you will gain."
Oh, who will win this mighty war?
Then I heard the spirit plead;
The secret of the victory is...
"Which ever one you feed."
Eph.6:10-20
Dear Lord, You who give strength to the weary and comfort
to the burdened,
please open our heart to receive Your strength and comfort for
today. In Him
who is Lord, even of our weaknesses. AMEN.
