Foundational Principles for Times of Ministry

Five basic assumptions underscore every thing that is done in our times of ministry.

RGC Ministries

First - We believe that scripture is the only reliable source for faith and practice.

2nd Timothy 3:16-17 -- All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Second - We believe that all counseling and discipline concepts and procedures must be based on the finished work of Christ.(up)

Colossians 1:27-29 -- To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:- Whereunto I also labor, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Colossians 2:1-10 -- For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.- For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, enjoying and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

The fact that every Christian is eternally alive in Christ right now is the only basis for hope.

Third - We rely on the present ministry of the Holy Spirit. (up)

John 16:7-15 -- Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

If there were no Holy Spirit, there would be no Church and no power to live the Christian life. He "is the spirit of truth"

John 14:17 -- Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

He will lead us into all truth.

John 16:13 -- Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

He is the one who communicates God's presence to us and leads us into the truth that will set us free.

Fourth -We are limited by faith response of counsels (up)

Galatians 3:1-5 -- O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? If it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Each and every individual has a "free will" to choose or not to choose to follow Christ. We cannot help those who don’t want to be helped or will not assume their own responsibility to choose the truth if they choose to believe a lie or live in sin, that is their choice. We respect their right to choose, but we also care enough about them to let them know what the consequences of their choices will be.

Fifth -We believe deeply that all need the support of the Christian community.(up)

Hebrews 10:7-25 -- Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

We don’t believe God ever intended us to live our lives alone. We absolutely need God, and we necessarily need each other.
We must additionally emphasize that none of the materials, programs or ministry methods that are used by this ministry set anyone free, the One who sets people free is Christ. What sets them free is their willingness to choose the truth, walk in the light and assume their responsibility to live righteously before God. The materials and methods are just tools that are no better than the one using them. Jesus is the true bondage breaker and the wonderful Counselor. Anyone who is willing to get radically right with God, be dependent upon Him, and put into practice those things outlined during ministry times will see their lives come alive in Christ right before his or her very eyes. We firmly believe that God wants all His children to live free and spiritually productive lives. If God wants it done, it can be done.
